Special Features:

New American oak casks shape this three-year-old Oude Genever from Zuidam. The distillery uses 200-litre casks for its maturation. Alongside wood and fruit, vanilla, toffee and a pleasant sweetness contribute to its character. It is bottled at 38% alcohol in 1 litre bottles.

The grain base consists of equal parts malted barley, rye and maize. Barley provides the backbone, maize contributes sweetness and rye adds spicy notes. The grain spirit is distilled three times in a small pot still. A portion then undergoes a fourth distillation with botanicals such as juniper, liquorice root and aniseed. After the components are brought together, the strength is adjusted to 45% before cask maturation.

The bottles are labelled by hand and finished with a ribbon and a red sealing-wax seal.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Pronounced woody notes lead on the nose, accompanied by a little fruit.
• Palate: The genever feels full and soft on the palate. Wood and fruit combine with a mouth-filling sensation.
• Finish: The finish leaves a warm sensation.

Distillery/Bottler:

Zuidam Distillers is an independent family business in Baarle-Nassau in the Netherlands, now run by the second generation. The distillery produces its own distillates and extracts and processes them further on site. Its range includes liqueurs, gin and whisky alongside genever. Natural raw materials form the basis of production; no artificial fragrances, colourings or flavourings are used.
