Ex-bourbon casks shape the maturation of this Spanish rum from Cadenhead's Green Label range. It was distilled in 2007 at an unnamed Spanish distillery and bottled after 17 years in May 2024. Cadenhead's released it at 46% alcohol in 0.7-litre bottles.

The Green Label range presents rums from different countries, all bottled at a drinking strength of 46%. Like Cadenhead's other rum bottlings, this rum receives no added sugar. No colouring is added either, and it is not chill-filtered. Its character brings together banana and syrup notes with citrus fruit and spices.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals banana, toffee with dark sugar syrup and cake with toffee sauce. Liquorice, cola and pine needles complement the sweet cake notes.
• Palate: On the palate, fried banana and orange peel meet cinnamon and candied ginger.
• Finish: Nutmeg and bitter orange remain on the finish, accompanied by a return of dark sugar syrup.

Distillery/Bottler:

Cadenhead's has its roots in Aberdeen's wine and spirits trade, where the company was founded in 1842. William Cadenhead took over the business in 1858 and gave it his name. Under his successor, Robert W. Duthie, single malt whisky and Demerara rum became important specialities. The company's connection with rum thus reaches far back into its history.

Following the auction of its stock in 1972, J & A Mitchell & Co Ltd acquired the company. Today, Cadenhead's operates as an independent bottler in Campbeltown and bottles all its products on site. When selecting whiskies, the team uses tastings to decide when they are ready for bottling; a famous distillery name or advanced age alone is not decisive. The Green Label rums complement this range with bottlings whose country of origin appears on the front label.
