Special Features:

Twelve years of maturation in American white oak bourbon casks shape this Flor de Caña. It comes from Chichigalpa in Nicaragua and belongs to the brand’s Super Premium Collection. At the foot of the active San Cristóbal volcano, the rum matures without artificial acceleration. No sugar is added; its sweet flavour notes develop during cask maturation.

Fruit, honey and roasted nuts complement its vanilla and wood character. The rum is offered at 37.5% in a 0.7-litre bottle. It contains no colouring and is suitable both for sipping neat and for classic rum cocktails such as an Old Fashioned.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, red fruits combine with honey and roasted nuts. Vanilla and caramel complement the soft aromas, while dried fruit remains a subtle hint.
• Palate: On the palate, woody notes meet vanilla and baked apple. The rum feels rounded, with sweet oak notes and mild spice.
• Finish: The medium-length finish remains soft and gently warming. Subtle oak and restrained sweetness linger, with honey and delicate spice slowly emerging.

Distillery/Bottler:

The history of Flor de Caña began in 1890 with Alfredo Francisco Pellas Canessa, an entrepreneur from Genoa. He chose a site near the Pacific Ocean, at the foot of San Cristóbal, for rum production. Today, the fifth generation of the family runs the business. The sugarcane fields, distillery and maturation warehouses are all on the same estate.

The bourbon casks are assembled by hand in the company’s own cooperage. During maturation, the warm tropical climate encourages interaction between the rum and the cask wood. Production also includes distillation using renewable energy and the use of solar energy for bottling.
