Special Features:

This single-cask rum combines tropical maturation in Fiji with further ageing in the European climate. South Pacific Distillery distilled it from molasses on 10 December 2006 in Jamaican-style copper pot stills. The rum then went into a fresh Bourbon Barrel. It matured in Fiji until 2017 before being transported to the United Kingdom, where it continued ageing until 2024. After a total of 17 years, the rum from the cask was bottled at 72.5%, yielding 256 bottles, without added sugar, chill filtration or colouring.

Ripe tropical fruits meet salty maritime impressions, olives and spicy oak. Tar and rubber notes provide a distinctive contrast to the creamy texture. A few drops of water bring out the maritime impressions and make the liquorice and notes reminiscent of machine grease more pronounced.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, sea air and green olives mingle with tar, a hint of rubber and liquorice. Tropical fruit complements the maritime bouquet.
• Palate: On the palate, the rum feels dense, velvety and creamy. Ripe banana and pineapple meet olives, salt and a subtle fishy note. Tar and rubber complement the fruit, while pepper, cocoa and oak add spice. A pastry-like creaminess appears in the background.
• Finish: The long finish feels warm, with bitter grapefruit, salty sea air and lingering creaminess. Light woody notes, olives, liquorice and a little caramel linger. A note of dark chocolate powder also emerges.

Distillery/Bottler:

The spirit comes from South Pacific Distillery in Lautoka, Fiji, now known as Rum Co. of Fiji, which has been distilling rum since 1980. The distillery processes locally grown sugar cane and uses selected former bourbon casks to mature its rum in the tropical climate. This rum was made in its Jamaican-style copper pot stills, which are equipped with retorts.

Dos Delinquentes is a joint series by independent bottlers Flensburg Rum Company and Wu Dram Clan. Flensburg Rum Company belongs to Oldman Spirits GmbH in Jübek and focuses primarily on unsweetened single-cask and small-batch bottlings, often at cask strength. Oldman Spirits has its own cask warehouse as well as semi-automatic and fully automatic bottling equipment. Oldman Spirits also bottled this Fiji rum for the joint project.
