Special Features:

This Hampden LROK brings together thirteen years of tropical maturation and the photographic presentation of Magnum Series #2. The rum was distilled in 2010 in a Double Retort Pot Still, matured in former bourbon casks and bottled in 2023 at 60% in a 1.5-litre bottle. It comes with gift packaging.

The LROK mark denotes a production style with 200 to 400 grams of esters per hectolitre of pure alcohol at distillation. Hampden introduced this mark in 1952. The label and gift packaging feature a photograph taken by Alex Webb in Jamaica in 1976.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, beeswax, candied pear and candied mirabelle plum mingle with camphor. With air, geranium, hyacinth and iris emerge.
• Palate: The rum is full-bodied and structured on the palate. Its powerful flavours combine liquorice and chocolate with petrol and smoked bacon. Roasted and smoky notes intensify, while pineapple and banana maintain a soft fruitiness.
• Finish: The long, intense finish reveals densely concentrated notes of sugar cane, warm brown sugar and bitumen. Candied kiwi, quince and apricot then lend a soft fruitiness to the lingering flavours.

Distillery/Bottler:

Hampden Estate is situated in Trelawny, Jamaica, and its history dates back to 1753. Everglades Farms Ltd., owned by the Hussey family, acquired the estate in 2009. The distillery's methods include spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts in wooden vats and distillation in Double Retort Pot Stills. Each of its different marks combines specific production methods with a distinct ester range.

Velier is the independent bottler of this edition and selected the rum for Magnum Series #2. Created in collaboration with Magnum Photos, the series pairs rum bottlings with photographic works. Its second edition is devoted to the colour photography of Alex Webb.
