Special Features:

For its first Small Batch, Rest & Be Thankful brought together rum from Jamaica’s Monymusk distillery, drawn from 24 American oak barrels. Distilled from molasses in pot stills, the rum carries the MDR mark and belongs to the distillery’s light fermentation style. The casks were filled on 21 September 2012 and spent their nine years of maturation in both tropical and continental conditions.

The rum was bottled on 2 March 2022 at 46% alcohol. Small Batch #1 comprises 6,076 bottles. It was neither chill-filtered nor coloured and comes in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Passion fruit and mango combine with lime on the nose, creating a fresh, fruity impression.
• Palate: On the palate, the rum develops intense flavours of roasted pineapple and raisins with a mouth-filling texture.
• Finish: Vanilla and flambéed banana linger through the long finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Monymusk is also known as Clarendon. Founded in 1949, the distillery is located in Lionel Town in southern Jamaica. The older part of the distillery houses two pot stills, each with two retorts, alongside their oak fermentation vessels. A facility added in 2009 operates three distillation columns. Monymusk distinguishes between light and heavy styles of pot-still rum: fermentation usually lasts two to three days for the light style and two to four weeks for the heavy style.

Rest & Be Thankful began in 2012 with independent single-cask whisky bottlings. Bruichladdich, Port Charlotte and Octomore were among the first. The bottler later expanded its range to include rum and now offers both single-cask and small-batch bottlings. Neither range contains additives or colouring, and neither is chill-filtered.
