Rum Nation Panama 18 is a long-matured molasses rum in the Spanish tradition. The molasses is distilled in continuously operating column stills, after which the rum matures for 18 years in Panama in ex-bourbon casks. It combines a light body with pronounced aromatic sweetness. The colourful decanter comes with gift packaging, and the rum is bottled at 40% without chill filtration or added colouring. For this revised decanter edition, the sugar content was reduced to below 20 grams per litre.

Tropical fruit, dates and chocolate shape its mellow character. A slightly vinous note and orange peel provide a fresher counterpoint to the sweetness. Despite its aromatic richness, the mouthfeel remains light and refreshing.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, cola, bergamot, dates and orange peel combine with honeyed sweetness and a note reminiscent of vermouth. A clearly perceptible ester note adds to the fresh, lively aroma.
• Palate: On the palate, the rum is sweet and fruity, yet light and refreshing. Molasses, raisins and chocolate mingle with orange peel, cola and coconut.
• Finish: The finish is mellow and warm, with black tea, sweetness and honey. Chamomile and a restrained pepper note complement the lingering flavours.

Distillery/Bottler:

Fabio Rossi founded Rum Nation in 1999. During his travels, he selected rum casks from different origins and developed a range that highlights the various regional rum styles. The brand has belonged to the Danish Mac Y Group since November 2018. Rum Nation International A/S is based in Karup.

Rum Nation buys fully matured rums from selected distilleries and brings them to Denmark for blending and bottling. The focus is on the character of the country of origin, so the labels do not necessarily name the individual distillery. Postage stamp motifs from the respective countries also reflect this connection to origin in the design.
