Special Features:

A finish lasting 1 year in a Choya-Umeshu cask completes this rum’s three-stage maturation. Rum Co. of Fiji distilled it from molasses in 2004 using a column still. After 17 years in former bourbon casks in Fiji, it matured for another 2 years in Ferrand casks in France. It then entered a cask that had previously held Japanese ume fruit liqueur. The 2024 Single Cask release was bottled from cask 14 at 48.5% after a total of 20 years.

Plum and tropical fruit meet vanilla, caramel and spicy wood. The lingering finish adds cocoa, roasted nuts and apricot to this fruit profile. The rum contains no added colouring and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is rich and deep. Ripe plum takes centre stage, accompanied by caramel and spicy, woody notes.
• Palate: On the palate, prune, banana and citrus fruit combine with coconut and vanilla.
• Finish: Cocoa and incense remain present in the long finish. Roasted nuts and apricot add further notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Rum Co. of Fiji produced the rum in Fiji. Founded in 1980 in Lautoka on the island of Viti Levu, the distillery processes molasses from Fijian sugar cane. Maison Ferrand is responsible for further maturation in France, cask selection and the Planteray bottling. For the Single Cask Collection, Master Blender Alexandre Gabriel selects the casks individually; additional maturation in casks previously used for wine, beer or spirits complements the tropical and continental maturation.

Alexandre Gabriel founded Maison Ferrand in 1989 in France’s Cognac region. The independent spirits house is based at Château de Bonbonnet in Ars. Established in 1999, its rum range combines collaboration with distilleries in different countries with maturation in tropical and continental conditions. Since 2024, the brand formerly known as Plantation has carried the name Planteray.
