A Tawny Port Cask Finish gives this ten-year-old Panamanian rum its nutty, chocolate-rich character. The finishing period takes place in casks that previously held Tawny Port. This oxidatively aged style of port contributes different influences from Ruby Port, particularly shaping the combination of nutty notes, creamy chocolate and wood in this rum.

The rum from batch 02-25 is offered at 42.1% alcohol in a 0.2-litre bottle without gift packaging. It contains no added colouring and is not chill-filtered. El Ron del Artesano also uses no added sugar or artificial flavourings.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines honeydew melon and orange juice with delicate walnut and chocolate notes. Cloves complement the fruity aromas, while wood appears only as a subtle nuance.
• Palate: On the palate, the rum is smooth and full-bodied. Milk chocolate gives it a creamy texture, accompanied by well-integrated wood notes and a light nuttiness from the Tawny Port Cask Finish.
• Finish: Oak, walnut and port wine remain present in the gentle finish. A slightly oxidative note complements these impressions.

Distillery/Bottler:

El Ron del Artesano has its roots in a family history that closely links distilling and cooperage. It began in 1880, when Viktor's father founded a small distillery and cooperage. Viktor learned both crafts, gained further experience during a three-year journey as a young man and then returned to the family business. The next three generations also continued this combination of spirits production and cask work.

El Ron del Artesano matures its rum in a warehouse covered by a three-metre-thick layer of concrete and earth. This keeps temperatures largely stable throughout the year and also regulates humidity naturally. More than 400 casks are stored there, and the team carefully selects the rum for each bottling. Alongside the core range, selected single-cask bottlings explore the influences of different wine and spirit casks.
