Berliner Brandstifter’s alcohol-free alternative brings the botanical character of Berlin Dry Gin to an alcohol-free composition. Juniper and flowers form its aromatic core, complemented by elderflower, rosehip, woodruff, cucumber and birch, which contribute fresh, floral and soft impressions. Each botanical is distilled separately. The individual distillates are then combined with water rather than alcohol and filtered seven times. Processing the botanicals separately allows their aromas to be carefully balanced when composing the blend.

This sugar-free, vegan alternative is intended for mixing rather than drinking neat. For a simple drink, mix one part alcohol-free Berliner Brandstifter with three parts tonic water over ice. The botanical composition also works in mocktails. Once opened, the product keeps for at least two months when refrigerated.

This offer comprises a 0.35-litre bottle sold as a best-before-date item. The bottle’s individual best-before date is printed on the back. Awards received by the alcohol-free bottling include the 2023 DLG Bronze Award and silver at The Spirits Business in 2021 and 2023.

Tasting Notes:

Distillery/Bottler:

Berliner Brandstifter was founded in 2009 by Vincent Honrodt. His inspiration came from his family: in the 1930s, his great-grandfather Ernst Honrodt ran the Vossberg sugar factory near Berlin and distilled spirits from local grain and sugar beet for family celebrations. Vincent Honrodt drew on this connection to regional ingredients when developing the brand.

Some of the botanicals used in the brand’s spirits are grown in the countryside around Berlin and harvested by hand. Individual maceration and distillation are part of its approach: the plants are processed separately before their distillates are combined according to each recipe. The alcohol-free alternative retains this separate distillation process, while water forms the base of the finished composition.
