Special Features:

A First Fill Peated Port Pipe gives this smoky Amrut its fruity and spicy character. The Indian single malt was distilled in February 2020 and matured for six years in cask 8795 before Best Dram bottled it in August 2026. Plums and raisins sit alongside smoke and dark chocolate, complemented by spicy wood notes.

This single-cask bottling is part of Best Dram's September 2026 selection and yielded 303 bottles. The whisky was bottled at a cask strength of 58.2%, without chill filtration or added colouring. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes without gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Pronounced smoke emerges on the nose alongside ripe plums and sweet raisins. Dark chocolate adds a subtle accent, complemented by delicate liquorice spice.
• Palate: The smoke is intense on the palate. The sweetness of dark chocolate combines with pepper and cloves. A restrained wood note accompanies the full body.
• Finish: Dry smoke and bitter cocoa remain present throughout the long finish. Wood notes complement the lingering flavours.

Distillery/Bottler:

Amrut has its roots in Bangalore, in the southern Indian state of Karnataka. J.N. Radhakrishna founded the company in 1948, initially under the name Amrut Laboratories. His son Neelakanta Rao Jagdale later took over the business. Amrut took an important step towards international recognition for Indian whisky in 2004, when it launched its single malt in Glasgow. Maturation in a tropical climate is one of the distillery's distinctive features.

Best Dram is the work of independent bottler Michel Reick, also known as Whisky Druid. He selects individual casks and releases their whisky through his own bottling ranges. Best Dram focuses on single-cask releases, typically bottled at cask strength without chill filtration or added colouring. For this whisky, Amrut produced the spirit, while Best Dram is responsible for the independent bottling.
