Special Features:

This Annandale from Cask Series 021 matured for seven years in an Oloroso sherry butt. It was distilled in November 2015 and bottled at cask strength in November 2022 at 54.9%, with an outturn of 458 bottles. The whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.

Pronounced peat and smoke provide a striking counterpoint to plum pastries and dark sugar syrup. Brown sugar, toffee and stewed berries broaden the sweet fruit character, while cinnamon, pink peppercorn and pickled ginger add spicy accents.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines plum pastries, brown sugar and plenty of dark sugar syrup.
• Palate: Cinnamon and pink peppercorn emerge on the palate.
• Finish: The finish combines dark sugar syrup sorbet with pickled ginger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Annandale Distillery produced the Lowland single malt, while Glasgow-based independent bottler North Star Spirits released it as part of Cask Series 021. Annandale was founded in 1836. Whisky production ceased there for around 90 years before the distillery resumed production on 9 November 2014 following an extensive restoration. The spirit distilled in November 2015 therefore comes from the early production period after the reopening.
