Aperol brings together orange fruit and herbal bitterness in an Italian aperitif. Its orange colour and bittersweet taste are characteristic features. This large bottle contains 3 litres at 11% alcohol.

The secret original recipe has remained unchanged since its introduction. Ingredients include sweet and bitter oranges, rhubarb and gentian, along with other herbs and roots whose aromas are extracted by infusion. To make an Aperol Spritz, combine three parts Prosecco, two parts Aperol and one part soda water over ice, then add an orange slice.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals orange zest and layered herbal aromas, accompanied by a hint of vanilla and a light impression of alcohol.
• Palate: Intense orange initially takes centre stage on the palate. Herbal and woody notes complement the fruit; the taste is pleasantly bittersweet and salty. The mouthfeel is velvety and rounded, with orange and wood lingering.
• Finish: Herbal notes and a pleasant bitterness persist through the long finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Luigi and Silvio Barbieri developed Aperol at their father's liqueur company. After seven years of experimentation, they presented the aperitif at the international fair in Padua in 1919. Its history is closely linked to the Veneto region, particularly the cafés of Padua and the traditional bars of Venice. The familiar Aperol Spritz recipe emerged in the 1950s. Following its acquisition by Gruppo Campari, the brand became increasingly well known internationally.

In addition to infusion, production involves clarification and filtration. A small amount of animal-derived gelatine is used in this process and subsequently removed.
