Special Features:

A single Oloroso Sherry Butt containing Ardbeg distilled in 2000 was selected for Artist #15. After 25 years of maturation, the whisky was bottled at cask strength in 2025 at 55.4%. Cask #1100000016 yielded just 15 magnums of 1.5 litres each. The whisky is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Dense smoke, soot and ash sit alongside apricot, mango and candied orange. Roasted nuts and salted caramel complement the fruit, while saline, rooty and herbal notes accompany the smoky finish. The label features part of a work by Indian artist Radhika Surana, who created the artwork for the Artist #15 collection.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, dense peat smoke, soot and ash come first, alongside saline, vegetal peat. Apricot, mango, roasted nuts and candied orange then emerge; with air, salted caramel, iris and wild geranium appear.
• Palate: On the palate, jam, tarte Tatin and honey notes meet a full texture. Peat then spreads across the palate, joined by ash, olives and a saline note. Agave, bitumen, smoked bacon, iodine, porridge and toasted bread add further flavours.
• Finish: The finish feels silky and smoky, shading into tar, with ginseng, gentian and smoked fish. Orange peel, raisins, dates, cardamom and candied apricots emerge in the aftertaste; a saline tapenade note lingers.

Distillery/Bottler:

Ardbeg Distillery stands on the south coast of Islay. John MacDougall founded it in 1815. After closing in 1981, it resumed production in 1989, initially for only two months each year. The Glenmorangie Company acquired Ardbeg in 1997 and later renovated, among other areas, its distillation facilities. Following a capacity expansion in 2021, the distillery has four stills.

Elixir Distillers bottled this whisky. La Maison du Whisky's Artist series began in 2011 and pairs the selection of exclusive single casks bottled at cask strength with new artist-designed labels each year. Radhika Surana created the artwork for the Artist #15 collection.
