Bache-Gabrielsen Whisky Francais Tourbe (Peated)

Special features: This French single malt whisky impresses with a subtle peatiness of 35 ppm, producing smoky and roasted notes without overshadowing the malt aromas. The double maturation in two different former cognac casks adds additional aromatic complexity.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Animal notes, wild earth, a hint of sea breeze, and roasted almonds.
  • Palate: Powerful and persistent with spices, cloves, and black pepper; a blend of smoky and grilled aromas.
  • Finish: A light peaty finish (35 ppm) that does not overpower the malt aromas but lingers long on the palate, complemented by notes of roasted peanuts.

Distillery/Bottler: The Maison Bache-Gabrielsen was founded in 1905 by Thomas Bache-Gabrielsen, a Norwegian officer who came to the Cognac region and settled there. Today, the company is run by the Bache-Gabrielsen family and is known for its innovative products and the combination of traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques.
