Ben Nevis Distillery stands at the foot of Ben Nevis near Fort William. John MacDonald, known as Long John, founded it in 1825. Its water flows from Coire Leis and Coire na Ciste to the distillery via the Allt a’ Mhuilinn.
Nikka Whisky Distilling Co., Ltd. acquired the distillery in 1989. Following the installation of a new mash tun, boiler and washbacks, Ben Nevis resumed production in 1990. The distillery releases Traditional as one of its own bottlings.
