Ben Nevis Traditional Peated Malt

Special features: The Ben Nevis Traditional Peated Malt is a tribute to the traditions of Scottish whisky production. First bottled in 2011 as a limited edition, this single malt uses peat malt and recalls the times when peat was used to heat the kiln. The bottling is done without coloring and without chill filtration, preserving the natural character of the whisky.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: An initial hint of salty sea air and peat smoke, followed by enticing aromas of honey and wildflowers.
  • Palate: An initial delicate smokiness gives way to the lingering smoothness and light sweetness of crème caramel and ginger cake.
  • Finish: Long and warm, with soft peat smoke and hints of roasted nuts, accompanied by a touch of fruitiness in the background.

Distillery/Bottler: The Ben Nevis Distillery is located at the foot of the mountain of the same name in the western Highlands of Scotland. Founded in 1825 by John "Long John" MacDonald, the distillery has experienced a tumultuous history and was acquired by the Japanese Nikka Whisky Distilling Co. Ltd. in 1989. Since then, it has produced a variety of single malts, including the Traditional Peated Malt.
