Special Features:

The Bürgermeister pear, also known as Köstliche von Charneux, is the basis of this single-variety organic fruit brandy. The pears come from the Altes Land region and are harvested in early September. Feingeisterei uses nine kilograms of pears to produce one litre of brandy. Once mashed, the fruit undergoes a cool fermentation lasting five weeks.

The fermented fruit mash is then distilled twice in a wood-fired copper still. The heart cut is selected for the finished brandy. Bottled at 40% alcohol, it contains no added sugar, flavourings or colourings.

Alongside pear, grassy freshness and a hint of honeydew melon emerge before juicy sweetness and a slightly bitter almond note follow. Further nuances suggest quince, white flowers and a hint of oak. For drinking neat, a tulip-shaped nosing glass and a serving temperature of 18–20 °C are recommended.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is clear and clean, with fresh pear and a slightly grassy note.
• Palate: A delicately bitter pear flavour takes centre stage on the palate.
• Finish: The finish is long and powerful. Subtle sweetness and a light bitterness linger, with a suggestion of bitter almond pastries.

Distillery/Bottler:

Martina and Fabian Rohrwasser have been producing spirits under the Feingeisterei name at Gut Basthorst since 2012. They distil their spirits themselves in their wood-fired distillery and work with certified organic ingredients. Added flavourings and other additives have no place in their approach. With the founding of FARO-Whisky Distillery, they are expanding their distilling operation.
