Blackwater A Dó Irish Poitín 0.5 l

Special features: A joint project between two experienced master distillers from Ireland, Peter Mulryan and Brendan Carty, who combined barley and oats from different parts of Ireland for this bottling. A special feature is the combination of unmalted Old Irish barley from County Waterford and peat-kiln oat malt from County Down, which were double distilled in two separate stills and then combined. Classically authentic, the Poitín was not aged in barrels, but brought directly to a drinking strength of 48% ABV and bottled.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Wood smoke, fine peat notes, subtle fruit nuances
  • Palate: Soft and smooth with aromas of candied fruit peel and tropical pineapple
  • Finish: Long-lasting, slightly smoky and fruity

Distillery/Bottler: The collaboration between Peter Mulryan and Brendan Carty brings together two distinct Irish distilling traditions. Barley from southern County Waterford and peat-dried oats from northern County Down create a harmonious blend of two regions. The distilleries rely on traditional production methods and time-tested recipes that preserve the authentic character of a Poitín.
