Blackwater A Dó Irish Poitín 0.5 l

Special features: A joint project of two experienced distillers from Ireland, Peter Mulryan and Brendan Carty, who combined barley and oats from different regions of Ireland for this bottling. The combination of unmalted Old Irish barley from County Waterford and peated oat malt from County Down is particularly special, as it was double distilled in two separate pot stills and then combined. Classically unadulterated, as the Poitín was not aged in barrels but brought directly to drinking strength of 48% vol. and bottled.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Wood smoke, fine peat notes, subtle fruit nuances
  • Palate: Smooth and soft with flavors of candied fruit peel and tropical pineapple
  • Finish: Long-lasting, slightly smoky and fruity

Distillery/Bottler: The collaboration between Peter Mulryan and Brendan Carty brings together two different Irish distilling traditions. The barley from southern County Waterford and the peated oats from northern County Down create a harmonious connection between two regions. The distilleries rely on traditional production methods and many tried-and-true recipes that preserve the typical character of a Poitín unadulterated.
