Special Features:

This single-cask bottling, limited to 127 bottles, comes from the 1991 vintage. The whisky matured for 33 years in refill American hogshead 5512 before Gordon & MacPhail bottled it on 24 April 2025 as part of the Connoisseurs Choice Upper range. The bottling belongs to batch 24/003.

The bottling comprises 0.7-litre bottles and has an alcohol content of 47.5%. It is non-chill-filtered, contains no added colouring and is presented in a premium genuine-wood box with a natural grain.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Gentle notes of vanilla and caramel take centre stage on the nose, while a light saline touch, roasted hazelnut and caramelised apple add further accents.
• Palate: On the palate, balanced sweetness and malt mingle with orange marmalade and a light touch of oak spice.
• Finish: The finish remains long and harmonious, with gentle saline impressions, a hint of seaweed and mild sweetness lingering.

Distillery/Bottler:

Bunnahabhain stands on the Sound of Islay and is the island’s northernmost distillery. Within Islay, it is particularly known for its non-smoky style. Its tall, pear-shaped stills have long swan necks that favour the creation of a lighter, more delicate spirit.

Gordon & MacPhail was founded in Speyside in 1895 and soon evolved from a grocery and spirits merchant into a specialist in selecting and maturing single malts over long periods. George Urquhart launched Connoisseurs Choice in 1968 to make whiskies from different Scottish distilleries available as single malts in their own right. For this bottling, Gordon & MacPhail selected the whisky from cask 5512 and released it as an independently bottled single cask.
