Special Features:

A First Fill Sherry Hogshead shapes the maturation of this Bunnahabhain from the Connoisseurs Choice range. Distilled in 2012, the single malt spent 13 years in cask number 2921. Here, First Fill means that the cask, previously used for sherry, was being used to mature whisky for the first time.

Gordon & MacPhail bottled the whisky on 4 August 2026 as batch 26/026. The single cask yielded 268 bottles, each containing 0.7 litres. The whisky was bottled at its cask strength of 58.4%, without chill filtration or added colouring. Fruity sweetness and pronounced spice notes characterise this non-smoky Islay malt, which comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Cranberry and cinnamon appear first on the nose, before mandarin peel joins them.
• Palate: Sweet stewed apples mingle with raisins and white pepper on the palate.
• Finish: The finish is full and spicy, with lingering clove and citrus notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Bunnahabhain stands in the remote northeast of Islay. William Robertson founded the distillery in 1881 with brothers William and James Greenlees; production began in 1883. A settlement for employees and their families was built alongside the distillery. Water for production comes from the Margadale spring north of the distillery.

Gordon & MacPhail of Elgin is responsible for the cask maturation and independent bottling of this edition. The company matches spirits from different Scottish distilleries with its own specially selected casks and oversees their maturation. Created by George Urquhart in 1968, the Connoisseurs Choice range also made single malts available that were then used mainly in blends. Its concept puts the distinctive character of each distillery centre stage.
