Special features: This 38-year-old Caol Ila was distilled in 1984 and bottled in March 2023 by Gordon & MacPhail in their renowned "Connoisseurs Choice" series. The maturation took place in a refill American Hogshead, resulting in a limited edition of only 150 bottles. Bottled at cask strength with 53.3% vol.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Intense aromas of smoke, accompanied by red apples, dried fruits, and a hint of peanuts.
- Palate: Dark chocolate and raspberries combine with citrus fruits and a mild nuttiness. The mineral smoke remains present and is balanced by a light sherry sweetness.
- Finish: Long and warming, with lingering smoke and spices, while the subtle sweetness of the sherry harmoniously lingers.
