Special features: This second single-cask release from the Connacht Distillery is an exceptional single malt, first matured for three years in a first-fill bourbon cask and then aged for another year in a Cabernet Sauvignon cask from California's Napa Valley. The oak cask was dried for 36 months at the renowned Bossuet distillery near Cognac and Bordeaux, reducing bitterness and intensifying spicy cask notes. The triple-distilled malt is a stylistic feature of the distillery, which typically uses double distillation.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Ripe fruit notes of figs, blackcurrants, and mellow apples, complemented by dried fruits such as pears, strawberries, and raisins, supported by crisp malt aromas and subtle spicy notes of mace, thyme, and rosemary. After some time, fruity and slightly mineral wine notes reveal themselves.
• Palate: Dried fruits with prunes and raisins fade, giving way to intense malt and maltose notes with hints of roasted Brazil nuts and almonds. Spice and herbal notes gain strength, while the fruitier side reemerges with slight dilution.
• Finish: Powerful and slightly oily, the roasted notes transform from nutty accents to dark cocoa powder.
