Special features: The first in Powerscourt Distillery's "Estate Series," a limited-edition single grain whiskey blended from distillates from 2010 to 2012, then finished exclusively in Italian Amarone casks. The eponymous "Mill House" is a historic mill building made of granite from the Wicklow Mountains, which today symbolizes the blend of tradition and modern production. The 18-month maturation in Amarone casks lends the whiskey an exceptional flavor dimension.

• Nose: Spicy notes, vanilla, honey, paired with fresh notes of lemon, kiwi and ripe peach, as well as a hint of cinnamon.
• Palate: Soft texture with sweet honey and cinnamon, a fruity cocktail and subtle nuances of milk chocolate.

Distillery/Bottler: The Powerscourt Distillery in Ireland uses spring water that once powered the historic mill in the Mill House. This water now forms the basis for the distillery's whiskeys. Malting and milling of the barley remains an important process step, now monitored using modern technology. Master Distiller Noel Sweeney brings his experience in combining traditional methods with innovative barrel aging to the Fercullen Single Grain Amarone Finish.
