Special features: The "Non Plus Ultra Ambre d'Or Excellence" is the most elegant variant of the exclusive "Non Plus Ultra" series from Old St. Croix. Named after its amber-golden shimmer and inspired by the French tradition of fine dessert wines, this rum matures in oak barrels that previously contained special wines. This gives it a rounded sweetness and complex, soft aromas.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Canned mirabelles with orange peel, heather honey, and an aromatic, slightly toasted note from the oak barrels, along with butter cookies and lightly floral, fragrant undertones.
- Palate: The taste of ripe pickled plums dominates, accompanied by the previously perceived aromas.
- Finish: The rich flavor gradually fades away.
Distillery/Bottler: The rum is bottled by Old St. Croix, formerly known as A.H. Riise. The brand traces back to the Danish pharmacist Albert Heinrich Riise, who founded a pharmacy in the West Indies in 1838 and began producing rum there. His creations quickly became popular and won numerous awards.
