For Teeling Small Batch, maturation in bourbon casks is followed by a shared finishing period in rum casks. Selected grain and malt whiskeys are first matured in former bourbon barrels, then married in rum casks from Central America. This second maturation stage lasts up to twelve months and shapes the bottling’s dried-fruit character.

The triple-distilled blend is bottled at 46% without chill filtration. Alongside vanilla and raisins, its aromatic range includes herbal notes and apricot.

• Nose: On the nose, floral notes mingle with sweet vanilla, rum-soaked raisins and allspice.
• Palate: The whiskey feels creamy on the palate. Dried fruit meets warming spice.
• Finish: The long finish is warming, with balanced oak and spice notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Teeling family’s history in Dublin whiskey-making dates back to 1782, when Walter Teeling founded a distillery on Marrowbone Lane. Jack and Stephen Teeling continued that legacy with their whiskey company from 2012. In 2015, they opened Dublin’s first new distillery in over 125 years in the historic Liberties district, close to the family’s former site.

Teeling uses different grain recipes and maturation methods to develop a range of whiskey styles. A common element of its approach is to forgo chill filtration before bottling, with the aim of preserving body and aromatic richness. In Small Batch, the combination of bourbon and rum casks illustrates this focus on cask maturation.
