Maturation in a first-fill Pedro Ximénez Sherry Hogshead gives this Teerenpeli dark fruit notes and pronounced sweetness. The Finnish single malt combines these sherry influences with malt, chocolate and spicy woody notes. The whisky has a natural mahogany colour.

Teerenpeli distilled the whisky on 6 November 2015. After ten years of maturation, it was bottled for Best Dram on 10 September 2026. The single cask, numbered 06112015A, yielded 260 bottles of 0.7 litres each. The whisky was bottled at a cask strength of 58.5%, without chill filtration or added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Ripe plums and raisins lead on the nose. Sweet buttery pastries and creamy vanilla complement the fruit, accompanied by delicate woody notes and subtle spice. The sherry influence is distinct.
• Palate: The whisky is full-bodied and powerful on the palate, with a dense, velvety texture. Dark chocolate, raisins and other dried fruits combine with malt and the sweetness of the PX sherry cask. Spicy woody notes and restrained roasted notes round out the flavour.
• Finish: The long, intense finish is spicy and marked by bold coffee notes. Oak and roasted notes accompany it, while dark chocolate and dried fruits linger subtly.

Distillery/Bottler:

Teerenpeli is based in Lahti, Finland. The distillery uses traditional copper pot stills. Alongside the Lotila distillery, the older Taivaanranta distillery remains in operation, producing small speciality batches. Its own wood-pellet heating plant supplies heat for whisky and beer production. Its pellets are made from sawdust and come from Vierumäki, around 25 kilometres away.

Michel Reick, also known as Whisky Druid, is behind the independent bottler Best Dram. He has released selected whiskies under this name since 2014. The focus is on individual casks and their distinctive character; the range includes both age-statement bottlings and whiskies with various cask finishes.
