Special Features:

Lot 74 is a Grande Champagne Cognac distilled in 1974 from a single French Limousin oak cask, number 0278. After around 50 years of maturation, Vallein-Tercinier's cellar master selected the Cognac for bottling at its natural cask strength of 48.7%. Only 571 bottles were released in 2024, without chill filtration or added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: After a few minutes in the glass, smoky and roasted notes emerge first. Subtle notes of white flowers, iris and light tobacco then come forward. Fennel, Sichuan pepper, liquorice, candied orange and exotic fruits complete the bouquet.
• Palate: The Cognac feels fresh, rounded and creamy on the palate. English fruitcake, candied apricots and almonds define its flavour.
• Finish: The finish is long and complex. Cocoa combines with a note reminiscent of Vintage Port.

Distillery/Bottler:

Around 1850, Georges Vallein founded the family's trading business at Domaine des Forges in Chermignac. He worked both as a distiller and as a wine and spirits merchant. His son Paul developed his own blends and sold Cognac in bottles. Winegrowing, distillation and cellar work have thus been part of the family house's history for generations. From 1947, Robert Tercinier worked alongside his father Louis; over the following three decades, eight stills produced Cognac for their own house and other trading houses.

In the 1990s, Louis Tercinier took over production, while his sister Catherine assumed responsibility for the commercial side of the business. The cellar masters' expertise has been passed down through five generations. Lot 74 matured in the house's own cellars and was selected by the cellar master as a single-cask release. Vallein-Tercinier released it as its own bottling in 2024.
