Special Features:

For XO Vieille Réserve, Vallein Tercinier blends equal proportions of eaux-de-vie from Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne. The youngest components are 35 years old. Maturation takes place exclusively in oak casks; the 35- to 40-year-old eaux-de-vie used in the blend were brought together more than ten years ago. This extended period of ageing together also contributes to the character of this Fine Champagne.

Before bottling, the alcohol content is slowly reduced to 40% and the Cognac is lightly filtered, but not chill-filtered. No colouring is added. This version contains one 0.7-litre bottle in a wooden box.

Alongside mature rancio and spice notes, the Cognac reveals floral touches of jasmine and hyacinth. Peach, a hint of mango and a subtle nutty note complete the profile. A pleasant dryness contrasts with the soft fruit notes.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Pronounced rancio notes and old leather stand out on the nose. Vanilla accompanies lighter scents of lime blossom, vine blossom and spices.
  • Palate: The Cognac is soft and supple on the palate. The spice notes are gently integrated, combining with a delicate, rounded mouthfeel.
  • Finish: The finish lingers, bringing honey notes to the fore.

Distillery/Bottler:

Domaine des Forges is located in Chermignac in the Saintonge region. Louis Vallein acquired the estate in 1791; around 1850, Georges Vallein established his trading house there as a distiller and wine and spirits merchant. His son Paul developed his own blends and sold the Cognac in bottles. Distillation, maturation and blending have together shaped the house's family history.

At Vallein Tercinier, every stage from distillation to bottling takes place in Chermignac. For particularly long maturation, the cellar master selects casks for their fault-free aromas and flavours and their aromatic balance. In the small Petit Paradis cellar, the clay floor provides natural humidity. This cellar forms part of the house's work with old eaux-de-vie; management of the company has passed to Guillaume Tercinier, representing the sixth generation.
