Irish flaxseed connects the recipe for Weavers Irish Gin with the history of linen production. The gin honours the people who worked in Ulster's flax fields and linen mills. Flaxseed gives it a particularly smooth mouthfeel. Its other botanicals include juniper, jasmine, lavender, rose petals, pink peppercorns, elderflower and almonds.

The bottle also reflects this craft: its blue glass recalls flowering flax fields, while the vertical grooves echo the straight rows of plants. The ornaments at the four corners of the label draw on a damask pattern from the linen tablecloths aboard the Titanic. The gin is offered at 42.5% in a 0.7-litre bottle.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Grapefruit, lime and lemon shape the fresh aroma. Delicately sweet notes of lavender, rose and jasmine accompany them.
• Palate: On the palate, lively citrus notes and juniper give way to gentle peppery warmth. Sweet pear, honey, jasmine and elderflower balance the spice. The mouthfeel is warm, slightly dry and at the same time creamy and smooth.
• Finish: The finish is subtly woody and earthy, with notes of almond, flax and angelica root. Warming clove and a hint of juicy orange accompany the lingering flavours.

Distillery/Bottler:

Echlinville Distillery is located on the Ards Peninsula in County Down, Northern Ireland. Shane and Lynn Braniff acquired the historic estate in 2007; the distillery received its distilling licence in 2013 and filled its first whiskey casks on 5 August. This made Echlinville the first newly licensed distillery in Northern Ireland in more than 125 years.

Growing its own barley is part of the distillery's farming-based approach. The grain is turned by hand with shovels on the malting floor, and the distillery uses slow distillation in copper pot stills for its whiskeys. Alongside reviving historic whiskey brands such as Dunville's, Echlinville developed its own gins. Weavers joined the range in 2019, placing the region's linen heritage at its heart.
