Special Features:

Maturation in former port wine casks shapes this three-year-old Flying Dutchman. For this special release from batch 1, Zuidam uses casks that previously held port wine. They contribute to both the rum’s intense colour and its flavour.

Zuidam uses neither chill filtration nor colouring for this bottling. The rum is bottled at 40% alcohol in 0.7-litre bottles. The bottles are labelled by hand and finished with a gold lacquer seal.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, dried fruit meets delicate vanilla notes.
• Palate: On the palate, sweet caramel and chocolate notes combine with gentle spice.
• Finish: The finish is long and warm, leaving a hint of port wine.

Distillery/Bottler:

Flying Dutchman is produced by Zuidam Distillers, a Dutch distillery owned and managed by the van Zuidam family. The family business makes its own distillates and extracts and processes them on site. Sugar cane molasses is the starting material for this rum. It ferments for at least two weeks before the fermented liquid is distilled at least twice in copper pot stills. Long fermentation and subsequent batch distillation are thus part of its production before cask maturation begins.
