Special Features:

Fully ripe Doppelte Hauszwetschgen plums from the Altes Land form the basis of this organic fruit brandy. The flesh, skins and stones remain together during mashing; the stones later contribute to the delicate bitter almond note. After four weeks of cool fermentation, the mash is slowly distilled in a wood-fired copper pot still. The heads and tails are carefully separated from the desired spirit.

This damson brandy is produced in small batches and contains neither additives nor added sugar. Alongside the plum fruit, it reveals dark berries, black tea and almonds, with a hint of oak. These impressions complement its fruity character.

At 18 to 20 °C, the brandy can open up in a small Burgundy glass. It pairs with desserts and flour-based sweet dishes, as well as dark chocolate.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines juicy plums with a smoky note. A hint of cinnamon blossom precedes dark chocolate.
• Palate: The brandy is very intense on the palate, with a pronounced damson flavour.
• Finish: The finish is velvety and mild, with an almost salty note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Martina and Fabian Rohrwasser have been producing spirits under the Feingeisterei name at Gut Basthorst since 2012. The distillery uses wood fires and distils its spirits itself. Its products are certified organic, and it uses neither additives nor added flavourings. By founding FARO-Whisky Distillery, the pair have expanded their business into whisky production.
