Wild Cupreata agave from Guerrero is the basis of this Mezcal Artesanal. Amarás Cupreata Joven is made entirely from this agave species. Fermentation takes place naturally with wild yeasts. This bottling dates from spring 2022 and comes at 41% alcohol in a bottle containing 0.7 litres.

Subtle smoke and citrus meet honeyed sweetness and paprika. The peppery finish highlights the mezcal’s spicy character. It can be enjoyed neat at room temperature or used as an aromatic base for cocktails.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals subtle smoke and citrus notes, complemented by restrained honeyed sweetness and delicate hints of spice.
• Palate: On the palate, gentle honeyed sweetness combines with distinctive paprika, joined by delicate spices and a subtle smoky note.
• Finish: A pronounced pepper note lingers on the finish alongside other spicy impressions.

Distillery/Bottler:

Mezcal Amarás works with local Maestros Mezcaleros, giving them room to follow their traditional production methods, timings and quantities. This collaboration includes training, interest-free microloans and fair prices for agave and mezcal. Local microorganisms play an important role in natural fermentation; the Maestros’ experience determines when the fermented agave mash is ready for distillation.

The “De la Semilla a la Copa” concept links production with the conservation of agave populations and support for the producing communities. Amarás plants an average of seven agaves for every plant harvested, using land that has already been deforested. Together with WWF, the brand also supports projects to protect forests, soil and water, including rainwater collection.
