Berlin Vodka combines a base made from French sugar beet with flowers and botanicals. Wild rose, elder, violet root, blackcurrant and cornflower give it a subtly fruity, floral character. Elder and blackcurrant shape the interplay with the base spirit’s slightly earthy sweetness.

The vodka is distilled five times and filtered seven times. The botanicals are macerated, or steeped, for several weeks and distilled individually. Their distillates are then combined with the base spirit in Berlin-Kaulsdorf. Before bottling, the vodka rests for several weeks in a stainless steel vessel with a capacity of 700 litres.

Each edition comprises 999 bottles, filled and numbered by hand in Berlin. This 2024 bottling contains 0.7 litres at 43.3% alcohol. Its mild yet powerful character lends itself to drinking neat and to simple drinks such as Vodka Soda over ice.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals delicate floral notes of wild rose, elder and cornflower, accompanied by subtle fruitiness and freshness.
• Palate: On the palate, the vodka is soft and mild, with floral nuances and delicate sweetness. A powerful fruity flavour and alcoholic notes add to the impression.
• Finish: The long finish is smooth and leaves delicate floral notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Vincent Honrodt founded Berliner Brandstifter in 2009. His inspiration came from his family: in the 1930s, his great-grandfather Ernst Honrodt ran the Vossberg sugar factory near Berlin and made spirits from regional grain and sugar beet for family and friends.

The Berlin spirits brand works with botanicals, some of which are grown in Berlin and the surrounding area and harvested by hand. Separate maceration and distillation allow the individual plant aromas to be balanced against one another. A production partner in Berlin-Kaulsdorf handles blending with the base spirit and bottling. Berliner Brandstifter also works with Berlin workshops for people with disabilities during the preparatory stages of production.
