Flor de Caña Spresso is based on rum aged for seven years in oak casks, with the addition of water, coffee flavouring and cane sugar. The liqueur brings together coffee character and the woody notes of its aged rum base. It contains 25% alcohol and comes in a 0.7-litre bottle.
This intensely black liqueur is caffeine-free, carbon-neutral and Fairtrade-certified. It can be enjoyed over ice or used in an Espresso Martini.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: On the nose, coffee notes mingle with woody aromas.
- Palate: Coffee and oak emerge on the palate. The liqueur has a light body.
- Finish: The finish is dry and smooth.
Distillery/Bottler:
Compañía Licorera de Nicaragua, S.A. is the company behind Flor de Caña. The distillery was founded in 1890 in Chichigalpa, at the foot of the San Cristóbal volcano. The company has been family-owned for five generations. Its rums mature naturally in small oak casks using the Slow-Aged process.
The company's environmental initiatives include a tree-planting programme that has been running since 2005. More than one million trees have now been planted.
