Special Features:

Roasted Italian hazelnuts form the basis of Frangelico. Once shelled and crushed, they are steeped in a mixture of alcohol and water. This infusion is distilled to produce a hazelnut distillate, which is then combined with extracts and distillates of cocoa, vanilla and roasted coffee, along with other flavouring preparations.

Alcohol, sugar and water complete the blend. The liqueur then rests in tanks for six to eight weeks, allowing its components to integrate and its flavour to mellow. In the glass, it is clear and pale gold. This bottling contains 0.7 litres at 20% alcohol.

Frangelico can be enjoyed neat, chilled or over ice. A squeeze of lime complements it, as does soda water; the hazelnut liqueur also works well as a cocktail ingredient.

• Nose: Intense hazelnut aromas stand out on the nose.
• Palate: The liqueur has a rich texture on the palate. Its distinct yet delicate hazelnut flavour is accompanied by nuances of vanilla and dark chocolate.

Distillery/Bottler:

Frangelico is produced in Piedmont in northern Italy. The local Tonda Gentile hazelnut variety is one of the foundations of the liqueur. The brand has belonged to Campari Group since 2010.

The name recalls the legend of Fra’ Angelico, a hermit monk said to have lived in the hills of Piedmont in the 18th century. The brand's story thus draws on the monastic tradition of making liqueurs from hazelnuts and other local ingredients. The bottle also reflects this tale: its shape evokes a monk's habit with a cord belt.
