Noilly Prat Rouge draws its character from white wines infused with herbs and spices. The aromatic blend includes sweet orange, cinnamon, cinchona bark, cloves and cocoa beans, bringing citrus and cocoa notes together with warm spice and botanical bitterness.

Rouge has been part of the Noilly Prat range since 1955. Its production differs from that of Original Dry and Extra Dry: Rouge undergoes neither outdoor wine ageing nor Dodinage, the manual stirring carried out during maceration.

Enjoy this vermouth well chilled or over ice, or use it in a Negroni or Manhattan. As an aperitif, it pairs with charcuterie; with dessert, it complements chocolate. The bottle contains 0.75 litres at 16% alcohol.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Bitter orange peel, cocoa and prunes appear on the nose alongside cinnamon and cloves. A subtle herbal note complements the warm, sweet impression.
• Palate: The vermouth feels dense and enveloping on the palate. Candied fruit sweetness combines with warm spices and the lively botanical bitterness of cinchona bark.
• Finish: Dark chocolate and dried citrus remain through the long, layered finish, accompanied by a delicate woody bitterness.

Distillery/Bottler:

Noilly Prat's roots lie in Lyon, where Joseph Noilly was already running an established wine and spirits business in 1813. His son Louis took over in 1828. Together with his son-in-law Claude Prat, Louis officially founded Noilly Prat & Cie in 1855.

In 1859, the company opened a site in Marseillan to age its wines. The Maison stands on France's Mediterranean coast, surrounded by vineyards and the region's oyster farms. Following the death of her father Louis, Anne-Rosine Prat took charge of the family business in 1865 and led it through a long period of growth. Today, the range comprises four vermouths—Original Dry, Extra Dry, Ambré and Rouge—all based on white wines flavoured with herbs and spices.
