Southern Comfort Original brings together whiskey, fruit and spice notes in a smooth liqueur with a sweet, spicy character. Its recipe draws on the combination of whiskey, stone fruit and spices with which the brand’s story began. This version contains 35% alcohol and comes in a bottle containing 0.7 litres.

This amber-coloured liqueur can be served on its own over ice or mixed with cola and ginger ale. Its combination of fruit, sweetness and spice also lends itself to cocktails such as the Alabama Slammer. Caramel colouring gives it its colour.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Juicy orange notes meet honey and delicate herbs on the nose. The aroma is gentle and spicy.
• Palate: On the palate, vanilla and caramelised fruit combine with ripe peach and orange. Cinnamon and a subtle hint of lemon complement the whiskey base.
• Finish: Vanilla, honey and a pleasant spiciness linger through the long finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Southern Comfort’s story began in New Orleans in 1874 with M.W. Heron. He wanted to make the often harsh whiskey of the time more approachable, so he combined it with fruit and spices. His creation was initially called Cuffs and Buttons before taking the name Southern Comfort. In 1900, the brand won a gold medal at the Paris World’s Fair.

In 2017, Southern Comfort brought the whiskey base back to the forefront of its recipe. Today’s Original version combines this foundation with the fruit and spice accents that define the brand’s style.
