Extended maturation defines this vintage Armagnac: more than three decades separate its distillation in 1989 from its bottling in 2024. Domaine de Baraillon offers it as an official bottling at 42% alcohol.

The Armagnac was bottled on 18 June 2024. Its rusty-brown colour is free from added colouring. The bottle contains 0.7 litres, has a cream-coloured label and comes in a wooden box.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, sweet grapes mingle with sultanas and plums. Chocolate and caramel add to the aromas, while orange peel provides a subtle accent.
• Palate: The Armagnac feels warm, supple and creamy on the palate. Apple pie, toasted almonds and honey combine with restrained woody notes.
• Finish: The long finish remains fruity, recalling sultanas with a musky note. Anise and liquorice bring a gentle spiciness.

Distillery/Bottler:

Domaine de Baraillon is in Lannemaignan in Bas-Armagnac, on the border between Gers and Landes. The Claverie family has farmed the estate since 1748. Its approximately 20 hectares of vineyards grow on sandy-clay soils, the sandy soils known locally as Sables fauves. The estate's grape varieties include Folle Blanche, Colombard and Baco.

The estate distils to approximately 52% alcohol. Subsequent maturation takes place in casks made from local oak, stored in the estate's old cellars. The family business SCEA Claverie is behind Domaine de Baraillon.
