BACARDÍ Añejo Cuatro brings together several rums, the youngest of which has matured for at least four years in the Caribbean climate. Ageing in oak casks shapes its smooth character. The Spanish name reflects this: Añejo means aged, while Cuatro means four.

Its golden colour is accompanied by gentle vanilla, toasted oak, cloves and honey. The rum brings a distinctive oak character to cocktails, but can also be enjoyed over ice. One suitable long drink is the Cuatro Highball with ginger ale and lime.

Distillery/Bottler:

The story of BACARDÍ began in 1862 in Santiago de Cuba, where Don Facundo Bacardí Massó bought a distillery. To create his lighter style of rum, he combined two contrasting distillates: the more intensely aromatic Aguardiente and the lighter, repeatedly distilled Redestilado. The proprietary yeast strain La Levadura BACARDÍ remains part of production today. The distillery in Cataño lies on the coast of Puerto Rico.

BACARDÍ makes rum from sugar cane molasses, diluted with water and fermented using its proprietary yeast strain. Fermentation takes around 20 to 30 hours. Other elements of production include charcoal filtration and ageing in American white oak casks previously used for whiskey. During the final blending, the Master Blenders select the rums according to taste, aroma and colour.
