Ruadh Mhor from 2011 is a heavily peated, 14-year-old Highland Single Malt from Hogshead 284. Berry Bros. & Rudd bottled the single cask for The Auld & The Bold at 60.6%. This release is the 2026 edition of the Odyssey series, launched in 2024, which brings together thematically linked single-cask bottlings each year. The Auld & The Bold explores the relationship between Scottish whisky tradition and a new generation of international producers.

The bottling is offered in a bottle containing 0.7 litres; the whisky is non-chill-filtered and contains no colouring.

On the nose, earthy peat, damp fern and scorched herbs open the profile, while wildflower honey, malty sweetness, apple peel and roasted meat add sweet and savoury accents. On the palate, glowing charcoal, singed twigs and peat intensify, rounded out by a lingering sweetness.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose begins with earthy peat, damp fern and scorched herbs. Beneath them emerge wildflower honey, malty sweetness, crisp apple peel and roasted meat.
• Palate: Glowing charcoal and singed twigs come to the fore on the palate. Pronounced peat is rounded out by a lingering sweetness.
• Finish: Smoke, sweet barley malt and warming earthy spice remain present throughout the long finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glenturret Distillery produced the heavily peated Ruadh Mhor spirit; Berry Bros. & Rudd selected Hogshead 284 and bottled the 2011 malt after 14 years at 60.6%.

Glenturret’s earliest documented predecessor appears in 1763 as Thurot Distillery. The site was later known as Hosh and has been called The Glenturret since 1873.

The history of Berry Bros. & Rudd on London’s St James’s Street began in 1698. Its own cask bottlings can be traced back to at least 1853, making the company one of Great Britain’s oldest independent spirits bottlers.
