Black Tot Finest Caribbean brings together four rum traditions in a modern interpretation of the Navy blend. Barbados contributes honeyed and tropical fruit notes, while Trinidad adds stone fruit and vanilla. Guyana provides body and aromatic depth, and Jamaica contributes a slightly funky fruitiness. Ripe pineapple, vanilla fudge and toasted cinnamon are its defining notes, complemented by coconut, chocolate, tonka bean and liquorice.

The blend consists of 40% 5-year-old rum from Barbados, 35% rum aged between 2 and 4 years from Trinidad and 5% 3-year-old Jamaican rum. Guyana contributes 10% rum aged between 3 and 5 years and 10% unaged rum. Barbados and Guyana supply both pot- and column-still distillates; Trinidad contributes column-still rum, and Jamaica a high-ester pot-still rum.

The aged components mature entirely in a tropical climate. No sugar or flavourings are added, and the blend is not chill-filtered. At 46.2%, it is suitable both for drinking neat and for cocktails that showcase its fruit and spice character.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, ripe guava and passion fruit meet green banana and toasted cinnamon.
• Palate: On the palate, pineapple and banana combine with apricot and other stone fruit notes. Vanilla, coconut and a buttery oak note complement the fruit. Butterscotch, molasses, dates and figs add further depth to the flavour.
• Finish: The finish leaves notes of cocoa butter, caramel and toffee, accompanied by lingering spice.

Distillery/Bottler:

The name Black Tot recalls 31 July 1970, the day the British Royal Navy ended its daily rum ration. Drawing on this history, Elixir Distillers developed a rum range that connects the historic Navy tradition with contemporary blending.

Brothers Sukhinder and Rajbir Singh are behind Elixir Distillers. The company grew out of Speciality Drinks' independent bottling business and has operated under its current name since 2017. Its work includes developing spirits brands as well as blending and bottling selected distillates. Black Tot Finest Caribbean was launched in 2019; its initial recipe was preceded by two years of development and 26 different blends.
