Special Features:
Black Tot Finest Caribbean brings together different Caribbean rum styles in a fruit-forward blend. The recipe revised in 2025 adds Trinidad rum to the rums from Barbados, Guyana and Jamaica. This change also brought an orange label to the bottling. This miniature contains 0.05 litres, and the rum is bottled at 46.2% alcohol.
Barbados rum aged for 5 years makes up the largest share at 40%, followed by 35% column-still rum from Trinidad aged for 2 to 4 years. Guyana contributes 10% rum aged for 3 to 5 years and 10% unaged rum, produced in pot and column stills. A further 5% consists of high-ester pot-still rum from Jamaica aged for 3 years. The aged components mature exclusively in tropical conditions. Barbados contributes honey-like notes, Trinidad stone fruit and tropical fruit, Guyana body and depth, and Jamaica a slightly funky fruit character.
The rum contains no added sugar or flavourings. It is neither chill-filtered nor coloured. Its combination of fruit, creamy sweetness and spice makes it suitable both for sipping neat and for rum-led cocktails. The miniature is offered without gift packaging.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Ripe pineapple leads on the nose. Delicate honey sweetness accompanies the intensely fruity, tropical aromas.
- Palate: The rum is full-bodied on the palate. Stone fruit and chocolate combine with creamy vanilla fudge and coconut notes.
- Finish: The lively spice of toasted cinnamon remains present in the long finish.
Distillery/Bottler:
Behind Black Tot is Elixir Distillers, the company built by brothers Sukhinder and Rajbir Singh to develop, blend and bottle spirits. Its independent bottling division was previously called Speciality Drinks and took the name Elixir Distillers in 2017. For the first Black Tot Finest Caribbean, released in 2019, the team tested 26 recipes over two years. Master Blender Oliver Chilton was responsible for the blend’s subsequent development, which included the addition of Trinidad rum in 2025.
The brand name recalls Black Tot Day: on 31 July 1970, Britain’s Royal Navy discontinued its daily rum ration. Black Tot draws on this history while shaping Finest Caribbean as a contemporary blend in which the styles of its different origins remain recognisable.
