Special Features:

This twelve-year-old blended malt combines whisky from The Dalmore and Teaninich. The heavily peated, 13-year-old Dalmore component accounts for just under 10% of the blend, while the lighter Teaninich component comes from first-fill bourbon casks.

Thompson Bros. bottled the whisky in February 2026 at 50%. Limited to 800 bottles, the release is non-chill-filtered and retains its natural colour.

Bright citrus and tropical fruit combine with creamy vanilla and polished oak. The peat smoke remains gentle in the finished whisky, providing a restrained counterpoint to the heavily peated Dalmore component.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose opens with banana and citrus, accompanied by saline notes. Malt, sweet vanilla, honey and coconut add roundness, while a very gentle trace of peat remains in the background.
• Palate: The whisky is creamy and lively on the palate. Vanilla and wood spice provide structure, while light medicinal nuances, kiwi and green apple create fresh tension. The mouthfeel remains slightly drying, with mild peat emerging towards the end.
• Finish: The long, balanced finish retains fresh acidity and soft wood tones, with a mild, peat-led warmth that lingers.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Dalmore and Teaninich produced the two malt components. Thompson Bros. married them to create Alness Blended Malt and handled the independent bottling.

Brothers Phil and Simon Thompson from Dornoch are behind Thompson Bros. Their work with the whisky bar at the Dornoch Castle Hotel led to the community-funded establishment of Dornoch Distillery. Its first new make spirit was distilled in 2017; while their own spirit matured, independent whisky and rum bottlings developed into the small team’s main line of business.
