Coleburn Local Heros Big Smoke Blended Malt Scotch Whisky

Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 46% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No

Special Features:

Big Smoke represents the most intensely smoky side of the first Local Heros trio alongside Sweet Peat and Sherry Bomb. Bearing batch number #0001, the bottling combines a full-bodied smoky style with fruity and maritime impressions.

The whisky is offered at 46% in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging. It is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, cherry, vanilla and lemon mingle with maritime notes, plum pudding and toffee, while elegant smoke supports the aromatic profile.
• Palate: On the palate, the peat smoke is initially medicinal before developing a more earthy wood-smoke character. Estery orchard-fruit notes, banana and sea salt emerge alongside a hint of tobacco.
• Finish: The long finish remains powerfully smoky, with lingering fruity nuances.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Distillery at Coleburn is reviving a historic Speyside site that had been silent for around four decades. The Local Heros range accompanies this new chapter with blended malts bottled at the Coleburn site and dedicated to the people and communities behind Scotch whisky. The team does not disclose the source distilleries of the malt whiskies used.

Master Distiller Keith Cruickshank is leading Coleburn's revival. He began his career in 1991 as a warehouse worker at Chivas Brothers, subsequently worked at Glen Grant and Caperdonich, and then spent 27 years at Benromach. D&M Winchester Ltd is responsible for bottling Big Smoke.
