CRN57 12 y.o Blended Malt Scotch Whisky

Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 43% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No

Special Features:

The twelve-year-old CRN57 is a Blended Malt Scotch Whisky created for The Cairn range by Gordon & MacPhail’s blending team. Its name refers to the 57th parallel. For this range, mature malt whiskies were blended to provide a sensory preview of the intended style of The Cairn’s future single malt. It is bottled at 43% and offered in a 0.7-litre bottle; it is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Its aromatic profile combines juicy red apple with cinnamon, clove, orange marmalade and toasted walnut. Raspberry, fresh apple, pepper and bittersweet chocolate orange follow on the palate, while the finish remains fruity and spicy, underpinned by delicate oak.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, red apple, cinnamon and clove mingle with orange marmalade and toasted walnut.
• Palate: On the palate, raspberry, fresh apple and pepper meet bittersweet chocolate orange.
• Finish: The finish is fruity and spicy, underpinned by delicate oak.

Distillery/Bottler:

CRN57 was created by Gordon & MacPhail’s blending team, which selected mature malt whiskies and combined them into blended malts for this range. This allowed The Cairn to present its intended house style even before its own single malt had matured. The distillery is located near Grantown-on-Spey, close to the northern edge of Cairngorms National Park, and belongs to the independent family-owned company Gordon & MacPhail. Its experience in selecting, maturing and bottling Scottish malts extends across several generations.
