This 30-year-old Blended Malt belongs to the core CRN57° range, which offers a sensory preview of The Cairn's future single malts. It was matured in American white oak casks. The whisky is offered at 43% in a 0.7-litre bottle.

Its aromatic profile combines rich fruitcake, candied citrus peel and cinnamon with toffee and Medjool dates. Sultanas and forest fruits meet pepper, oak and floral notes, while liquorice and spices shape the full, sweet finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals rich fruitcake and candied citrus peel with cinnamon. Toffee and Medjool dates round out the bouquet.
• Palate: On the palate, spices and pepper combine with sultanas, forest fruits, oak and floral notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Gordon & MacPhail was founded in 1895 and specialises in maturing Scotch whisky. In October 2022, the family-owned company opened The Cairn near Grantown-on-Spey, overlooking the River Spey towards the Cairngorms. The first single malts distilled there are not expected to be released until the mid-2030s.

While The Cairn's own whiskies mature, the CRN57° range developed by the blending team uses stocks of mature malt whisky to provide an impression of the intended style. The components of this 30-year-old Blended Malt come from other, undisclosed distilleries. Gordon & MacPhail bottled the whisky for The Cairn.
