The Mini Pack brings together three distinct Black Bull blends: Kyloe, the 12-year-old Black Bull and Kyloe Peated Finish. The 12-year-old expression combines malt and grain whisky in equal proportions; its components matured in sherry and bourbon casks. Kyloe Peated Finish gains its contrasting character from further maturation in casks that previously held smoky whisky, setting it apart from the fruity and malty notes of the other expressions.

The set contains one 0.05-litre bottle of each blend. All three are bottled at 50% ABV, without added colouring or chill filtration. The gift pack makes these different styles a compact selection for a comparative tasting.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The 12-year-old Black Bull has aromas of chocolate, toffee, sherry and vanilla, accompanied by a citrus note. Kyloe Peated Finish brings smoke, dark malt, green apple and brown sugar to the nose.
• Palate: The 12-year-old blend is soft and rounded, with flavours of milk chocolate, dark toffee, pear, green apple and vanilla. Kyloe Peated Finish combines pronounced smoke with a creamy texture, salted nuts, citrus fruit and sweetness.
• Finish: The 12-year-old Black Bull leaves lingering richer fruit notes and creamy impressions. Kyloe Peated Finish has a long, warming finish with salt, sweetness, apple, cinnamon, clove and a distinct trail of smoke.

Black Bull traces its origins to a blend made by George Willsher & Co. in Dundee in 1864. Today, Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky Ltd. oversees the brand’s blending and bottling. The company selects Scottish malt and grain whiskies for its blends; a high proportion of malt and bottling at 50% ABV characterise the range. The Mini Pack offers a comparison of this approach across Kyloe, the 12-year-old expression and the expression finished in casks that previously held smoky whisky.
