Special Features:

Wheat rather than rye shapes Larceny Small Batch, giving it a soft, rounded character. Its grain recipe consists of 68% corn, 20% wheat and 12% malted barley. This places the Kentucky Straight Bourbon in the wheated bourbon family, in which wheat is the second defining grain alongside corn.

The whiskey matures in new, charred American white oak casks. In the warehouses in Bardstown, Kentucky's pronounced temperature fluctuations influence maturation. The Master Distiller and tasting team monitor the whiskey's development in the casks and select them to maintain Larceny's consistent flavour profile. Small Batch is bottled at 46% alcohol and is chill-filtered; no colouring is added.

• Nose: Fresh bread and toffee mingle with a note of butterscotch on the nose.
• Palate: Buttery caramel and honey notes meet a rich mouthfeel on the palate.

Distillery/Bottler:

Larceny is produced by the family-owned whiskey maker Heaven Hill. Its wheated bourbons are made at its Bernheim Distillery in central Louisville before being taken to Bardstown to mature. Production begins with milling corn, wheat and malted barley, which are then processed with Kentucky water and yeast. The fermented mash is subsequently distilled into new whiskey.

With the brand launched in 2012, Heaven Hill continues Old Fitzgerald's wheat-based tradition. The name Larceny, meaning theft, refers to the story of US Treasury agent John E. Fitzgerald: he is said to have used his access to the warehouses to help himself to particularly fine bourbon from selected casks. The key and keyhole used as brand symbols recall this tale.
