This ten-year-old bottling from Cadenhead's reveals Bunnahabhain's peated side. Distilled in 2013, the single malt matured in bourbon casks and is part of the Original Collection. Savoury smoke, smoked bacon, sea salt and echoes of Cullen Skink, a Scottish smoked fish soup, shape its character.

Cadenhead's bottled the whisky in May 2024 at 46%. It retains its natural colour and was not chill-filtered. The bottle contains 0.7 litres.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Crispy smoked bacon, sea salt and savoury peat smoke define the nose.
• Palate: The palate delivers bold smoke, accompanied by a savoury Cullen Skink note and fresh mint leaves.
• Finish: The maritime impressions persist on the finish. Creamy sweetness and smoked tofu add to the lingering flavours.

Distillery/Bottler:

Bunnahabhain stands on Islay's remote northeastern coast. William Robertson and the Greenlees brothers founded the distillery in 1881. Houses were built on site for its workers; a road and a pier enabled barley and casks to be brought to the distillery and whisky to be shipped out.

Bunnahabhain distilled the whisky, while Cadenhead's handled the independent bottling. Founded in Aberdeen in 1842, the company has belonged to J & A Mitchell & Co Ltd since 1972 and bottles its spirits in Campbeltown. The team uses tastings to decide which casks to select and when to bottle. For the Original Collection, whiskies from a small number of selected casks are married and bottled at 46%.
