Special Features:

The 17-year-old Glencadam Réserve de Calvados, distilled in 2008, combines maturation in American ex-bourbon casks with a finish in selected Calvados casks from Normandy. Launched in 2026, this limited edition comprises 6,360 individually numbered bottles. The whisky is bottled at 46% in 0.7-litre bottles, with its natural colour and without chill filtration.

Baked apple and apple strudel form the fruity core. Heather honey, almonds and vanilla sponge cake add sweet, pastry-like impressions, while cocoa, chamomile, ginger, dark chocolate, candied orange and clove provide spicy and more bitter counterpoints. Cappuccino, vanilla custard tart, fruit blossom, lemon and baking spices shape the finale.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals baked apples, heather honey, sugared almonds and vanilla sponge cake, accompanied by delicate notes of cocoa powder and chamomile.
• Palate: On the palate, apple strudel, spiced fruit and butterscotch combine with ginger, dark chocolate, candied orange and clove.
• Finish: The finish is warming and long-lasting: cappuccino and vanilla custard tart give way to fruit blossom, sweet lemon sherbet, cocoa and baking spices.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glencadam Distillery has stood in Brechin in the eastern Highlands since 1825 and was built by David Scott. After closing in 2000, the distillery was acquired by Angus Dundee Distillers in 2003 and resumed production that same year. The stills’ upward-angled lyne arms increase reflux during distillation and contribute to the distillate’s fruit-forward character.
